Description

NIU is proud to announce our third annual esports summer boot camp. Do you like to play video games or watch gamers on YouTube or Twitch.tv? Find how you can play video games competitively in college, learn about esports careers and advance your video game skills. Instruction will include a combination of live online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, along with recorded videos and downloadable step-by-step instruction. In this camp you will play popular video games, learn more about competitive esports and explore collegiate and professional opportunities. You’ll get to practice team building, strategy and competitive gaming skills, use Discord for communication with your instructors and try your hand at several popular esports games. You’ll also tune into twitch.tv to get inspired and master skills.

Computer Hardware and Software Requirements: Visit the page linked through the “Register” button to view the list of minimum requirements for participating in the Esports camp. Please review these requirements carefully. This camp is highly technical and cannot be completed without the necessary hardware and software.

This is an online camp delivered by Northern Illinois University’s Digital Convergence Lab. To access this camp you will need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets the computer hardware and software requirements. Students will meet in our Discord server and receive a login for the learning management system before the start of camp.
