Get ready to science up your fiction! Every great leap forward starts with a burst of creativity. Someone sees the world as it is, dreams of what it could be, and then works to make the dream a reality. This is future telling, something that writers, innovators and STEM experts do every day to imagine and create a better world. Join us online to meet STEM experts, hear about their research and then use what you’ve learned to create your own sci-fi story.

Throughout this four-week experience, you’ll get to pick the brains of STEM and writing experts in small group sessions. You’ll also get to participate in live sessions with best-selling authors. This year’s special guest is “Feed” author M.T. Anderson. Students will get to interact with Anderson, participate in a Q&A and hear valuable advice on how he blends cutting-edge science concepts into his fiction.

The goal of this intensive experience is to guide students through creating a complete, polished speculative fiction short story. We will work on establishing good writing routines as we research, plan, draft, edit, share and finalize our work. We’ll also hear from working authors and editors on what it means to have a career in publishing. If you want to get serious about STEM and storytelling while having some serious fun, this is the summer experience for you!
